Hi - I’m Mikey. I got my name from the famous ad saying “Mikey likes it.” I showed up in my foster Mom’s backyard one cold night near Thanksgiving last year. I stayed all day, all night even when it was freezing cold and raining outside. I was so scared I would just run when I saw her for the first 2 months but she always left food and water out for me so I stayed in her backyard where I was safe from the coyotes and being fed. She bought me a dog house and made me a bed out of a plastic tub with straw and a lid to keep me warm and out of the rain. Eventually I learned I could trust her and would come to her when she brought my food. Then she tricked me and pet me on my head while I was eating. After a couple weeks, though, I started head butting her hand when she was putting my plate down. That’s when she decided to call me Mikey because she said he likes getting petted. After a few more months and several failed attempts to trap me, she got me and took me to the vet and had me fixed, got my shots, my nails trimmed and got flea meds. She brought me back to her home to live in her garage in my very own room that is 8 feet x 8 feet x 8 feet with 2 windows, a tons of shelves for me to jump around on, my own 5 foot cage to sleep in that I can go in and out of freely and 3 cushy beds and lots to toys. I love my new home I really would love to have my own human to cuddle with. She has taught me how to love being brushed, petted, scratched under my neck (my favorite) and I’m still learning how to sit on her lap for more than 2 minutes. I’m ok about being picked up but only to be stood up and hugged. I still have to learn how to be picked up all the way up but I’m willing to learn if you can be patient and teach me. I can be very affectionate once I learn to trust you if you can be patient with me and give me the time I need to figure that out. I do well with one of her kitties, a very friendly, outgoing girl kitty. She has several FIV+ boy kitties and she doesn’t feel that I’d would be safe with them. I’m not sure how I would do with dogs but maybe one other outgoing, not timid, girl kitty might be the right mix for me. I’m 5 years old, healthy, negative for FELV and FIV and neutered. I would love to have a home and a good human for the holidays! Would you like to meet me and adopt me please! I’ll bring the affection!
